Aileen Torres-BennettAileen Torres-Bennett studied political science, anthropology and creative writing at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and earned her M.S. in journalism from Columbia University in New York City. She is the managing editor of Sea Technology, an international marine business, science and engineering monthly magazine. She is also a freelance writer who has written for Reuters and Travel + Leisure, among many other outlets. Aileen is married to Chuck Bennett, a diplomat and former journalist.



  1. We have similar academic backgrounds..but completed in a different order! I did my 1st degree in Journalism and am now doing a masters in Humanitarian Action (which combines anthropology, geopolitics and medicine!) . Great blog, looking forward to reading more! Janet 🙂
